Pes Planus(flatfoot)

1. Inherited type of foot and occurs bilateral(both feet)

2. Pain is typically along arch, behind/underneath inner ankle and up inside of leg; can mimic ‘shin splints’

3. Pain mostly with weight-bearing

4. Pain occurs more frequently during athletic activities

Sever’s(Calcaneal Apophysitis): Bruising of the growth plate in the heel

1. Occurs only in children ages 7-12 when growth plate is open

2. Pain is more along the posterior(back) rim of the heel than the bottom

3. Pain mostly with weight-bearing

4. Occurs more frequently when child plays sports such as basketball, football, soccer, cheerleading

Juvenile Bunion: Bunion that occurs in early adolescence

1. Inherited

2. Difficulty wearing shoe gear

3. Pain mostly with weight-bearing
