Ingrown Toenail
Common Causes:
Genetics
Improperly fitting shoe gear
Injuries to toenail like stubbing or jamming
Running
Symptoms:
Pain to nail border
Swelling and/or redness around nail border
Drainage in the form of clear fluid and sometimes pus
Pain in toe with shoe gear
Most common in Great toe, but occurs in all toes
Treatment
Home Treatment:
Soaking in warm, not hot, water with epsom salts for 10-15 minutes daily
Application of topical antibiotic such as bacitracin or triple antibiotic ointment
Wear open-toed shoe gear
Office Treatment:
In office nail procedure, under local anesthesia, which involves surgically removing the painful nail border at the root.
Antibiotics are very rarely necessary due to surgical procedure removing infected tissue.
Hours of Operation:
Monday: 7:00am - 6:30pm
Tuesday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
Wednesday: 7:00am - 4:30pm
Thursday: No office hours. Hospital surgery.
Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pm
