Hammertoe

Common Causes:

  • Genetics

  • Improperly fitting shoe gear

  • Toe is contracted(bent downward)

  • Wider Shoe gear

  • Custom arch strappings and custom orthotics

  • Silicon Toe caps and spacers

  • Surgery

  • Traditional K-wire

    Traditional k-wires involve placing a piece of hardware similar to a nail across the digit with the end left sticking out of the toe. The k-wire is removed after 4-6 weeks in the office. This can be uncomfortable.

  • Nextra

    This device is placed internally without any part sticking out of the toe. Also, this device provides excellent compression to the toe resulting in much better patient outcomes.
